Why financial coaching?

Is there really a need for financial coaching? Can’t everyone take care of this on their own?

Short answer to all of the above, yes!

I like to compare the idea of money or financial coaching to starting a workout routine. Can you find a free training program online, videos that walk you through how to do the exercises then go into your local gym and workout? Of course you can! But there are some people who aren’t getting the results they want or have no idea where to start and often seek out the knowledge of a personal trainer.

Similar to how a personal trainer isn’t for everyone, a financial coach isn’t for everyone. There are all sorts of resources out there to help someone figure out their finances and set themselves up for the future. My purpose is to help people who aren’t comfortable with personal finance determine a plan and to provide accountability.

Why me?

I am passionate about personal finance and driven to help others. When speaking with friends, family and acquaintances, I’ve noticed that there are a ton of questions and stress around the subject of money. Most people have the same goals (pay down debt, save for the future, etc) but don’t know where to start and don’t want to make mistakes. I’ve made the mistakes and I’ve learned from them. I have gone through periods of real frugality (ask me about the time I put all my belongings in a storage unit rather than pay rent) and excessive spending but have gotten to a point of balance that is achieving my needs and goals. My intention is to help others achieve this balance, prevent them from repeating my mistakes and get rid of that stress!
