I am an engineer with an MBA which means I know what it is like to be in debt.
After completing my engineering degree, I had nearly $30,000 in student debt along with a $5,000 vehicle loan. I desperately wanted to pay this off as quickly as possible. I lived pretty frugally for the next year to meet this goal. When all this debt was paid off, I overcompensated by going to the other end of the spectrum, spending most of my paycheque with little going into savings. Personal finance had always been a passion of mine so I decided to really dig deep and apply those principles to my life. I customized what I had learned to make a plan that suited me best and I was able to buy a condo at 26 and travel to 13 countries.
